Why This Series, Why Now

At The FEMCAST, we believe in amplifying voices that challenge abuse, expose manipulation, and carve out safer futures. Today, we are proud to launch our brand-new series: The Gaslit Brain with Dr. Jen Fraser.

If you’ve followed us before, you’ll remember Jen’s powerful insights in our last series, based on her bestselling book The Bullied Brain. Together, we explored the devastating neurological impacts of bullying and abuse — and, crucially, how healing is possible. That series gave survivors hope, showing that brains can recover, rewire, and thrive.

But now, the stakes are even higher.

Gaslighting has become the word of our age. Once hidden behind closed doors, it’s now playing out across news cycles, on every screen, and in boardrooms where power is abused with impunity. The problem? Gaslighting doesn’t just erode trust — it rewires the brain itself, leaving deep neurological scars.

And while awareness of gaslighting is growing, prevention is lagging far behind. That’s where The Gaslit Brain steps in.

From Healing to Prevention

If The Bullied Brain was about understanding the damage and reclaiming recovery, The Gaslit Brain is about prevention. It’s about learning to spot manipulation in real time, understanding the psychological patterns of the gaslighter, and protecting ourselves and our communities before the harm takes hold.

In Episode 1, we strip back the layers:

  • What gaslighting really is (beyond the buzzword)
  • How the manipulator’s brain operates
  • Who is most at risk — and why
  • The dangerous normalisation of gaslighting in homes, workplaces, and society

This isn’t just a conversation. It’s a wake-up call.

Why We Can’t Afford to Stay Silent

Gaslighting thrives in silence and confusion. It’s designed to destabilise, disorient, and destroy our ability to think critically. That’s why this work feels so urgent, we cannot fight what we cannot name.

By shining a spotlight on gaslighting, Jen Fraser is equipping us with the knowledge to protect ourselves, support others, and demand psychological safety in every space we inhabit — at home, at work, and in our wider communities.
